Stop Avoiding

We all have those things on our list that we avoid because we associate them with negative feelings…giving an employee negative feedback, saying “no” to someone who asks for our help on something that doesn’t align with our priorities, getting our workout in when we don’t have the time, holding someone to their commitment to deliver on time when we know the deadline is tight.  We try to avoid the feeling and end up waffling, then layer on the frustration with ourselves for not being more steadfast.  We could have simply used all that energy to just do the damn thing.

Instead, what if you stopped and asked yourself how it could be a good thing?

Giving someone negative feedback provides them with an opportunity for awareness and a chance for growth.

Saying “no” to someone pushes them to get more creative with their problem solving or learn a new skill.

Getting your workout in when you are crunched for time helps build your trust that you can prioritize self care, even when it’s hard…not to mention the physical benefits of the workout itself.

Holding someone to their deadline helps them learn the art of discipline and pushes them to be intentional with their time.

How can that thing you are avoiding be a good thing?  Decide it is and then go get it done.
