Do you find yourself getting frustrated by your inability to maintain the same level of motivation and take massive action throughout the entire year? Whether your goals are focused on weight loss, career, your relationships or even your spirituality, you’ll likely find that the energy you can cultivate, ebbs and flows throughout the year, in seasonal patterns. It makes sense of course, as we are products of nature, as human beings.
Take a moment to consider it. When are the times of year you are most likely to have a lot of energy and creativity? Counter that to times when your energy is low and you seem to feel everything a bit more deeply?
Understanding our natural rhythm and working with it, gives us the clarity to work in alignment instead of trying to push against it.
Winter is a time to cleanse or shed, reflect and feel deeply. The shorter days and reduced sunlight tend to reduce energy. It’s a great time to plan more rest, reflection and stillness.
Spring is a time of transformation and renewal. Our energy starts to increase but it’s important we don’t try to push ourselves into the high energy of summer, prematurely. It’s a great time to take it slow, prepare and provide nourishment to our goals in anticipation of the high energy summer.
Summer is a period of sharp, mental focus and positive emotional health. This is the best time to take massive action in order to build and create what we want. The longer days and increased sunlight help fuel our mindset for maximum creativity and action.
Fall is a period of change and transformation, similar in some ways to the spring. It’s a great time for fresh starts, but trying to maintain the high energy of the summer can lead to burnout. In the fall months, we can instead reap the benefits of what we sowed in the summer and enjoy the relationships we have built.
While everyone is slightly different in terms of their reaction to seasons and the local climate can also impact us, you can still benefit by using this as a framework for identifying your personal seasons. Then, use this knowledge to plan your focus in alignment with your body and its natural rhythms.
You will be so much more productive as a result!
