How strong women create what they want

As I was brainstorming how to help a client who is resisting the opportunity to create what she wants, I came across this quote by Brené Brown.

You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for worthiness.

How do you know if you are standing outside your story, hustling for your own worthiness?

You resist opportunities that could help take you in the directions of your dreams and instead choose to stay stuck.

You seek validation from others instead of creating it within yourself.

You don’t take action on the life you want.

You hold yourself back for fear of judgement.

You longingly watch others go after their goals, secretly despising their successes.

It made me realize that the strongest women in my life, those that I aspire to emulate because they are constantly creating what they want, accept vulnerability as part of the journey.

They accept help and don’t make it mean they are weak.

They seek opportunities for growth, even when it scares them.

They take action without validation that it will amount to anything.

They continue to show up, even in the face of judgement.

They support other women, even when they are struggling to find their own footing.

In other words, they walk inside their story and soak in all of it, taking responsibility for the entire creation, whether it leads to failure, success or everything in between.

Who would you be, if you opened yourself to walking inside your story?

Here are three easy steps to get you started:

  1. Have your own back – Accept your story, and I mean all of it. No more shoulding on yourself, no more perfectionism, no more looking to others for validation or wishing things were different. Everything that has happened in the past or is currently existing in the presence has a place and a reason. How are you exactly who you are meant to be right here in this moment?
  2. Build your team – Stop seeing help and support as a weakness. Find a support team that believes in your infinite potential, gives you the space to make your own decisions without judgement and shoots straight with you when you need it. Be brave enough to open yourself and get vulnerable with these individuals. Then, offer that same belief to someone else. How will you transform when you open yourself up to believing in the possibility for everyone to succeed, you included?
  3. Start living intentionally – Be willing to dream about the life you want, the kind of dreaming that you likely haven’t done since you were a small child, then be courageous enough to go create it.  Who will you become when you go all in?
